An 18-year-old Marange man was gruesomely murdered by a gang of 11 assailants who accused him of stealing a mobile phone.
Acting Manicaland Provincial Police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident which occurred at Chingombe Business Center in Marange.
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said one of the accused, Tawanda Mafa, had lost his mobile phone, an Itel A56, and was suspected to have been stolen by the now deceased Morgan Manyere.
Mafa teamed up with 10 other accused and dragged Manyeri to a nearby bush where they allegedly assaulted him with a wooden block.
The gang of 11 men allegedly took Manyire to an illegal mine and beat him up when they demanded Mafa’s mobile phone.
After completely hiding, Manir allegedly confessed that he had stolen the mobile phone. He claimed to have thrown her into a mine shaft.

“We urge people to stop taking the law into their own hands.
“We do not condone violence, and we will not hesitate to bring its perpetrators to justice.
“Taking another man’s life, for whatever reason, is unacceptable. We have since launched a manhunt to bring the perpetrators to justice,” he added. Manica Post
