A single mother from Mwenezi has reached cloud nine after her son scored 30 points in his Advanced Level.

Memory Mozvidziwa couldn’t hide her joy after Shingirai Hatirrami (18) made it through Pamushana Secondary School.

Shingirirayi scored six points as in Additional Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Pure Mathematics and Statistics in the 2023 Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Board session.

Speaking to H-Metro, Memory said: “I can’t thank God enough for this new milestone in my life,” said Memory, a salesman at Neshuro Growth Point.

“My son makes me proud all the time because of his intelligence.

“He is my source of hope and comfort given the way I raised him as a salesman.

“I did my best to ensure he was sent to school, and today I am proud of what he has done for us.

“My son is reserved and spent most of his time studying or on his computer researching new things and inventions.”

She added: “Right now, we are struggling to make ends meet and we welcome sponsors who would like to help us pay for his university fees.

“Like any other young person, we want him to fulfill his dream by studying a program of his choice.

“We don’t want his dreams to be crushed due to lack of funding.”

The youngster was ecstatic after emerging as the best student overall at Bamushana Secondary School.

“I have worked hard for this and I am looking forward to starting my studies at university.

“I want to study either aeronautical engineering or actuarial science to fulfill my dream.

“It was not easy for me because I studied additional mathematics and statistics on my own.

“It was just correspondence, but I got help from some of my teachers to make sure I could communicate with others.

“I had a special timetable, which I designed for myself, to ensure I studied well.”

His uncle, Clemens Mozvidziwa, said Chingirirai was a genius. h metro
