A Harare man who allegedly provided a customer with fake car license discs worth US$4,000 has appeared in court.
Takokzwa Nyadenga (28) appeared before Harare magistrate, Ms Apollonia Marutia, on charges of fraud.
He was granted $150 bail and remanded in custody until February 7.
The State alleged that between December 30, 2023 and January 2, 2024, Nyadinga colluded with Shinjirai Soka who is still at large and falsely presented facts to the complainant, Anisu Samhambere, that they could purchase vehicle license discs on his behalf.
They were given US$4,000 and printed fake car license discs and handed them over to Samhembere.
However, one of Samhembere’s vehicles was intercepted while passing the toll gate due to a fake license disc.
Samhembere later investigated the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zinara) and discovered that all the license discs he obtained from Nyadenga and Sauka were fake.
This prompted him to file a report with the police, which led to Nyadanga’s arrest.
