A 28-year-old man from Borrowdale is fighting for his life at Parirenyatwa Hospital after his father shot him twice over a US$300 debt.
Kudakwashe Zimba from Budiriro 2 is said to be in critical condition.
The incident shocked and saddened many people, with some expressing their anger on social media.
Kudakwashe was reportedly shot in the abdomen and waist by his father, Moses Ziemba (51), at a house in Borrowdale, along Philadelphia Road.
Acting Harare Provincial Police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Faith Mapisa, said Musa had been arrested and faces a case of attempted murder.
“Police have arrested a man from Borrowdale in connection with attempted murder,” Ass-Insp Mapisa said.
“The circumstances are that the accused is the biological father of the complainant.
“On Monday, the complainant went to the accused’s house to collect the money owed to him.
“He demanded US$300, but the accused gave him only US$20 and promised to send the rest to the complainant’s wife.
“The accused returned home, leaving the complainant outside waiting for him to open the remote-controlled gate.
“The accused later left the house and ordered the complainant to leave his house.
“The complainant then told the accused that he wanted to see the projects being done at the house and the accused continued to order the complainant to leave.
“The accused then pulled a firearm from his pocket and shot the complainant twice,” Ass-Insp Mapisa said. h metro
