18 LAND INVADERS GET COMMUNITY SERVICE newsdzeZimbabweNewsdzeZimbabwe

Judge Sharon Nxongo sentenced 18 illegal settlers of Dagbrik Farm to eight months in prison for settling on declared land without obtaining permission from the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development.

The sentence was commuted to 140 hours of community service in various government departments including Chivhu Primary Court, Runyararo Primary School and ZRP Chivhu.

The eighteen are Milton Muvumbi, Blessing Kumba, Bright Kumba, Jimo Sembe, We Believe in Motawani, Henry Maphosa, Hilary Shura, Mika Magoma, Miriam Chikodza, Agnes Bahiri, Bibukai Motsoakiwa, Evin Munhandi, Lovemore Tibedzi, Aisha Murindango, Mercy Takura, Miriam. Takura, Mimori Kwashirai and Tarofinga Machata.

The state’s case was that 18 people illegally occupied Dagbrik Farm in January 2014. They built homes and farmed on the gazetted land. They were arrested after a report to the police. Masvingo mirror
