MORE BY-ELECTIONS NOT IN ANYONE’S INTEREST, SAYS ZANU PF newsdzeZimbabweNewsdzeZimbabwe

Zanu-PF has called on the opposition CCC to put aside their internal differences and join forces to stabilize the country’s electoral landscape, arguing that further by-elections are not in anyone’s interest.

Zanu PF does not see a two-thirds majority in parliament as a priority, although this is possible with multiple by-elections in opposition seats due to the opposition party tearing itself apart and recalling elected legislators, but wants to focus on improving lives. Of people.

Zanu-PF’s appeal to the CCC comes just a few days before another set of by-elections scheduled for February 3, aimed at filling vacancies created by the second batch of lawmakers’ withdrawal from the CCC on November 10 last year.

Speaking during a press conference held at the Zanu PF headquarters yesterday, Zanu PF spokesperson, Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa, said there was absolutely no desire to change the Constitution of Zimbabwe willy-nilly.

“The Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front, in coordination with the CPC and then the MDC, wrote the Constitution of Zimbabwe. We took it to the voters of Zimbabwe, and it was approved in a referendum.

He said: “We are only forced to respond to the constitution because some clauses stipulate that if there is impeachment, you must go to the elections. Please close your ranks in threes, love each other, establish the map of the electoral scene, and spare us the elections.” He said: “We do not need two-thirds.” Absolutely”.

Ambassador Mutsvangwa said the ZANU-PF was satisfied with the strong absolute majority it won in August last year. He added: “We are happy about this. We do not attribute the causality to the opposition, which holds elections that we did not plan, and then attribute malicious motives to us.

“So your issue of a two-thirds majority is not an aspiration for Zanu-PF. Look, if the other side keeps committing harkiri, self-cannibalization, and then they force us into elections, if we end up getting two-thirds, it will be a fluke. “It was never our intention because the reason comes from the other side, not from our side.”

“What happens happens at CCC, and for us, the outcome is a coincidence. It was never wanted, certainly never desired, never desired.

Ambassador Mutsvangwa said ZANU-PF is now focusing on urban regeneration after years of failed policies from opposition-run councils.

“The past two decades have shown us what the MDC and CCC can do to cut services. If they cannot run an independent house what about the entire nation? That is why there is Operation Chenesa Harare which will go to other areas. We as Zanu PF are ready to develop urban settlements.

Ambassador Mutsvangwa also stressed that the ruling party now prioritizes increasing trade and cooperation with its neighbours.

“The focus is on increasing investments. ZANU PF’s policy is to increase economic activity and it has done so. Expansion is underway in other areas such as building terminals in Beira to boost trade with Mozambique.

Ambassador Mutsvangwa praised South Africa’s condemnation of the recent attacks in Gaza, and congratulated the African National Congress on the occasion of its 112th anniversary.

“We are proud of South Africa that stands against the genocide in Gaza. They have aroused the global conscience in solidarity with the people of Palestine. We also take this opportunity to congratulate the ANC which will celebrate its 112th anniversary on Saturday. He said President Ed Mnangagwa would send his message to the party which has contributed to national consciousness. Announce
